Remember Your Thank You Notes!
This may not be a wealth tip, per se, but more of a life tip. Has the art of the "thank you note" died with technology and our fast paced environment? Do younger generations not see the merit behind such a simple, yet thoughtful task?
If you are trying to improve your situation, whether that means your job, your friendships, or family relations, don't underestimate the warm emotions that a simple handwritten thank you note or note of encouragement can evoke in another person. Just think of how you feel when you get a birthday card from that aunt overseas or a simple thank you note for something nice you did for another. It makes you feel appreciated and remembered, doesn't it? While it is such a simple task to tackle, it seems to always go a long way. Yet, many young people today seem to be forgetting the art of the "thank you note." It isn't so much what is said, but that you took the time to say it.
While handwritten "thank you notes" may not be as prevalent as they used to be, the email "thank you note" is not as prevalent either. The world is so fast paced and we can communicate with anyone at any time in one of a dozen different mediums that it perhaps doesn't resonate as much as it once did. But, again, it's not that you can send one easily, but that you did. That you took the time to remember someone else for their gift, their time, or their presence and made them feel appreciated.
"Thank you notes" may just help you stand out from the crowd, especially nowadays. More importantly, they just may make someone else feel appreciated, and that's a really good thing.
